Conquistador Women Victorious In CONQ Classic Final

(Dodge City, KS) - Day two of the CONQ Classic kicked off on Saturday at 12PM with #8 Midland women taking on Redlands CC in the first game. This game was the closest game of the entire classic with the two unbeaten teams fighting to keep their records unblemished. It was the 6-0 Cougars from Redlands that came out on top over the #8 Chaps who were 6-0 at the time. The Redlands Cougars won the contest 61-58 handing the Midland Chaps their first lost of the season. Redlands improved to 7-0 on the season behind some hot shooting. 

The women's finale of the CONQ Classic pitted the Conquistador women against the Oklahoma Wesleyan JV squad. The Conqs were strong the entire game out scoring the Owls in 3 out of 4 quarters. The Conqs went into halftime with a 19 point lead and the score never got any closer the rest of the way. The Conqs were lead by Sydney Thurwalker and Leroyeisha Thomas each with 14 points a piece and Alex Altum and Ashia Pool with 11 point each. Sydney Thurwalker also lead the Conqs in rebounds with 9. The Conqs increased their lead in the fouth quarter outscoring the Owls 22-14 in the final frame leading to a 91-65 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan.

The Conquistador women are off this week until they travel to Trinidad Colorado on Friday and Saturday to take on Trinidad State (1-6) Friday at 5PM and Otero Junior College (4-2) Saturday at 1PM.
