Box Score A late goal from Barton Community College forced a double overtime tie between the Conqs and the Cougars on Saturday. The Conqs twice had a one goal lead, but a late goal from Barton's Hiroo Kimura sent the game to overtime where neither team could come up with a goal in the twenty ensuing minutes.
Dodge City took an early lead in the first seven minutes after kick-off as
Cesar Alvarez netted home a rebound after a
Johnley Dezile attack was turned away by the Cougar keeper. Barton tied the game up at one when Tevin Rochester managed to send one home for the Cougars. The game was then played pretty evenly until just under seven minutes into the second half
Kieran Guthrie buried a ball in the net on a header off of a Alvarez corner.
The game stayed tied from that point until Kimura scored on a rebound of a Rafael Callegari save of another Cougar shot. The ball landed in the net with one second remaining in regulation. Each team had opportunities to come away with the win in overtime, but in the end neither could find the net for a deciding score.
The tie pushes the Conqs record to 5-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play. They will be back in action in a non-conference game on the road this week in Lindsborg to take on Bethany College.
