Men's Soccer Falls to #9 Barton

Enzo Grizzetti helped lead a solid defensive effort for Dodge City
Box Score The Dodge City men's soccer team had a big task facing them on Wednesday as they took on the Barton Cougars who are currently ranked #9 in the NJCAA. The match was very evenly contested, but the Cougars managed a goal late in the second half to give them a 1-0 victory.

The first half was tightly contested with each team having very limited offensive opportunities as each defense was very solid. The second half seemed to be much of the same until late in the game. Finally with one 11:26 remaining on the clock Rafael Callegari was unable to completely secure a shot from Barton's Gabriel Arraes and Nicolas Torres found a gap in the Conq defense to get to the ball and put a shot into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. Neither team was able to find any more offense and the game finished at that score.

Each team managed seven shots a piece, but Dodge was able to put three on frame while Barton managed only two on frame.

The loss drops the Conqs to 5-3-2 in Jayhawk Conference play and 8-4-2 overall. They are scheduled to host McPherson College JV at 3:00pm on Sunday at Memorial Field.
