Box Score 2 DODGE CITY, Kan. - Both the men's and women's soccer fell to Northwest Kansas Technical College on Sunday afternoon, as the women gave up a late goal to fall 3-2, and the men losing, 4-0.
The women's team came out slow in game one, giving up a goal in the 20th minute to give the Mavericks a 1-0 lead. The goal seemed to wake up the Conqs as just a minute and a half later,
Siobhan Longmore scored on a pass from
Liliana Vasquez to tie the game at one.
Both teams remained scoreless for the first half. In the 59th minute, the Mavericks were able to take the lead again on a goal from Adrijane Felix.
Late in the game, Longmore got another chance to score and took full advantage of it, to tie the game once more at 2, but in the 88th minute, the Mavericks took the lead for the final time, giving Northwest Kansas Tech the 3-2 win.
In the men's game, there were a combined 34 fouls in the game as the Mavericks won, 4-0.
Early in the 12th minute, Jordan Maska was able to put the ball into the box on a throw-in which was put into the back of the net by Williams Pointon to make the score, 1-0.
A strong finish to the first half by the Conqs sent both teams into the locker room with Northwest Kansas Tech leading 1-0.
In the 60th minute, another throw-in by Maska was sent into the box and this time was scored by Joe Greener to extend the lead to 2-0.Â
Just two minutes after their goal,
Abel Chevelon had a penalty kick that he put off the left post to keep the score at 2-0.
In the 66th minute, the Mavericks added to their lead after a cross from Jamaal Seymour was put into the back of the net by a sliding Alfie Tonkin.
Late in the game, the Mavericks scored once more when a save by the Conqs was set up perfectly for the Mavericks to score, ending the game, 4-0.
Both teams will be in action again on September 27, as they travel to Barton Community College at 2 and 4 p.m.
