Box Score 2 DODGE CITY, Kan. - On the night of the final home game for the men's soccer team, the women were able to knock off Cloud County Community College 2-1, while the men fell to the Thunderbirds, 4-1.
In just the sixth minute of the women's game, Cloud was able to grab an early 1-0 lead on a goal from Joana Villanova.
The Dodge City defense stepped up after the early goal, not allowing a goal for the remainder of the game.Â
Just four minutes into the second half, Marcela Matinez Coronado was able to collect herself on a rebound off a save from the Cloud goalkeeper to net the tying goal.
In the 70th minute with the game tied,
Begona Rodriguez Bravo got a free kick from just outside of the box and curved it over the keeper to take a 2-1 lead.Â
The score remained the same for the rest of the game, giving Dodge City the 2-1 win.
In the men's game, the Conqs fell behind early again, after a handball in the box gave the Thunderbirds a penalty kick in the fifth minute.
Just two minutes later,
Angelo Squizato Neto received a red card, forcing the Conqs to play a man down for the remainder of the game.
Again in the 59th minute, Luiz Garcia of Cloud netted his second goal fo the game, to make the score 2-0.
Guilherme Martins was able to net two goals of his own in the 64th and 80th minute to push the lead to 4-0 late in the game.
The Conqs would not be shutout, as the fog rolled in making it hard to see.
Abel Chevelon was able to net a goal in the 81st minute to make the score 4-1.
The women are now 7-6-1 on the year, while the men are now 6-4-3. Both teams will be in action again on October 7th, as they both travel to Hesston to play at 5 and 7 p.m.
