Box Score 2 GARDEN CITY, Kan. - With playoff implications on the line, the women's soccer team scored two goals in the second half to win 2-1, while the men fell, 2-1 at Garden City Community College.
On a defensive mistake by the Conqustadors, the Broncbusters were able to open up the scoring, just before the halftime whistle to take a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
With 32 minutes left in the game,
Alexis McKinnon scored on a mistake by the Garden City goalie to tie the game at one.
Just six minutes later, the Conqs scored again as
Begona Rodriguez Bravo netted a goal on a pass from
Siobhan Longmore to take a 2-1 lead. The Conq defesne held strong for the remainder of the game, winning the game, 2-1.
For the men's game, the Conqs fell behind early giving up two goals in the first half and needing a comeback to win the game.
In the second half, Enzo Grizzetti netted a goal with about 10 minutes left in the game on a pass from
Emilio Arrubarrena to cut the lead to 2-1.
With multiple chances for the remainder of the game, the Conqs could not connect, falling to Garden City, 2-1.
The women are now 10-8-1 on the year while the men fall to 8-6-3 on the year. The women have finished their regular season, while the men play again on Monday at Central Christian College.
