Box Score GARDEN CITY, Kan. - After a big win last weekend, the Conqs traveled to Garden City and lost to the Broncbusters by a score of 41-14 on Saturday night.
The Broncbusters controlled the entire first half as they scored their first touchdown early in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead. After Dodge City gave the ball back on their next possesion, Garden City drove down the field and scored once more to make the score 14-0 early in the game.
In the second quarter, the Broncbusters continued to add to their lead as they pushed their lead to 20-0 after a blocked extra point. Late in the second quarter, Garden City were able to add another touchdown and went for a two-point conversion and were successful, pushing the lead to 28-0 heading into halftime.
After the Conqs got the ball after a turnover by Garden City, the Conqs gave the ball back to the Broncbusters and they busted off a big run to extend their lead to 35-0.
To start the fourth quarter, Garden City added to their lead, extending the lead to 41-0.
The Conqs were able to get on the board in the fourth quarter as
Caden Walters connected with
Braxton Haley on third down to cut the lead to 41-7.
Dodge City was able to cut the lead even more with a run from
Anthony Watkins to cut the lead to 41-14 late in the game.
Garden City then ran out the clock, winning the game 41-14.
Dodge City moves to 4-5 on the year and will be in action again next weekend as they travel to Coffeyville at 7 p.m.
