Box Score 2 GOODLAND, Kan. - On Saturday afternoon, the men's and women's soccer teams traveled to Northwest Kansas Technical College where the women fell to the Mavericks, 4-1 and the men won, 2-1 in double overtime.
Keeley Milner got things started early, as she netted the first goal of the game, just four minutes in on a pass from
Siobhan Longmore from the left side to make the score, 1-0.
Just eight seconds later, the Mavericks netted a goal to tie the game at one, very early in the game.
The Mavericks never looked back, scoring one more goal with five minutes remaining in the first half, to make the score 2-1 heading into the locker room.
Two minutes into the second half, NWKT was able to keep things going as they netted their third unanswered goal to make it 3-1. The Mavericks scored one more time before the game was over, winning the game, 4-1.
On the men's side, the first half was completely scoreless, but
Aedan Gaffney changed that just 30 seconds into the second half on a pass from
Renan Pereira to take a 1-0 lead.
The defense held strong until 10 minutes left in the game, when they gave up a goal to tie the game at one.Â
After a scoreless first overtime period,
Joseph Vazquez Hernandez netted a goal with 52 seconds left on the clock to give Dodge City a big 2-1 win.
The women are now 9-7-1 on the year, while the men move to 8-5-3. The women will be in action again on Wednesday, as they host Hutchinson for sophomore night, while the men are in action again on Friday, traveling to Garden City.
