Box Score GARDEN CITY, Kan. - The Dodge City Community College women's soccer team squandered a 3-1 in the final 10 minutes of regulation and fell in two overtimes on the road to Garden City Community College 4-3 in two overtimes in Garden City on Saturday, September 24th.
DC3 is now 3-5 on the season and 1-4 in the KJCCC while the Broncbusters improved to 4-4-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
Holding a 2-1 lead in the second half, the Conquistadors were pushing possession in the attacking third when
Begona Rodriguez-Bravo sent a shot in from 35 yards out past the goalie to give DC3 a 3-1 lead with 13 minutes to go. Garden City would respond with two goals in a three minute span in the final 10 minutes to send the game to extra time. In the first extra frame, neither team could find a game-winner which would send the game to a second OT. Dodge City would be awarded a penalty kick early in the second 10-minute period, but would have their shot saved by the Broncbuster goalkeeper. With time winding down and what seemed to be an imminent draw, Garden City would draw a foul at the top of the box and convert on the free kick to give the Conquistadors a heartbreaking loss.
With seven games to go, DC3 will play six at home starting on Wednesday, September 28th with a 5 p.m. kickoff against Pratt Community College. Earlier this year, DC3 defeated the Beavers by a score of 10-0.
