Men's Soccer Loses Conference Match at Barton, 2-0

Box Score GREAT BEND, Kan. - The Dodge City Community College men's soccer team was limited to few opportunities in a 2-0 loss at Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kansas on Wednesday, September 14th.

DC3 is now 0-4-2 overall and 0-2-1 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference while the Cougars are 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

In the first half, Barton striker Mario Ramirez hit the post on his first shot three minutes in before sending one past Conquistador goalie Eric Edge at the 40:02 mark after a collision between Edge and another Conquistador. The rest of the half would play out with few opportunities as the Cougars would hold a 4-1 shots on goal lead at intermission.

In the second half an even quieter game would break out as the first 30 minutes or so would see no real chances open up for either team. Edge would deflect a cross sent in by Cougar player Julio Neto with 14 minutes left in regulation to deny Barton a shot before Jose Escobedo would put the nail in the coffin with a shot past Edge to double the lead to 2-0. DC3 would press for a goal, but could not find any more opportunities.

Still looking for their first win, DC3 will play a non-conference match against Northwest Kansas Tech at 4 p.m CT in Goodland, Kansas on Saturday, September 17th.
