HUTCHINSON, Kan. - A
Tyler Minor 50-yard touchdown run with 1:26 remaining in the game gave the Dodge City Community College football team the lead for good in a 28-21 victory for the Conquistadors over Hutchinson at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson on Saturday, November 12th.
DC3 ends the regular-season with a 7-4 record while the Blue Dragons end the season at 5-6. It is the second straight victory for Dodge City over Hutchinson.
In addition to the 50-yard scamper, Minor would also score from seven yards out while
Caden Walters would connect on a 13-yard touchdown pass to
Austin Watkins in a game that DC3 would never trail in. Austin Walker would score the only other Conquistador touchdown on a one yard run to put the Conqs up 7-0 early on.
Walters would finish the day 19-28 for 209 total yards and one touchdown while Minor would get the bulk of the rushing attack by running for a total of 116 yards on 17 carries.
Rodney Murphy would gain 46 yards on the ground on 13 carries while the receiving effort was led by
Douglas Butts who would haul in five receptions for 65 yards.
On the defensive side of things,
Ovenson Cledanord had 10 total tackles (five assisted, five unassisted) and forced one fumble while Marquis Blair would finish with six tackles, one sack, and two pass breakups.
The Conquistadors will now play the waiting game to see if they are selected for one of seven potential bowl games.
