EL DORADO, Kan. - Facing a stiff 20 mph wind in their face, the Dodge City Community College women's soccer team allowed four goals to No. 2 nationally-ranked Butler and could never recover in a 5-0 loss in the first round of the NJCAA Region VI Playoffs at BG Products Veterans Memorial Stadium in El Dorado, Kansas on Saturday, October 29th.
The Conquistadors finish their season with an 8-8 overall record while the Grizzlies move onto next week's NJCAA Region VI semifinal round and improved to 18-2 on the season. Butler has won their last 18 matches after starting the season 0-2.
Taylor Martinez would get the scoring started in the sixth minute for Butler before three goals would be scored in a span of 6:15 to give the Grizzlies a commanding 4-0 lead with 15 minutes before halftime. Dodge City would limit the damage the rest of the half before giving up only one goal in the second half to hold Butler to their lowest scoring output since October 12th.
DC3 would be limited to only four shots total in the game, with
Begona Rodriguez-Bravo taking two and
Roselinda Louissaint and
Ariana Longmore each taking one. Goalie
Emily Goldman would make eight saves in the match, while facing 28 shots total.
