Box Score DODGE CITY, Kan. - A goal in each half by visiting Garden City Community College was enough to beat the Dodge City Community College men's soccer team by a score of 2-0 at Memorial Stadium in Dodge City on Saturday, October 15th.
DC3 is now 4-7-2 overall and 2-4-1 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
The Bronbusters would score just a minute and 22 seconds into the game to take an early 1-0 lead in the first half, but could not muster any other goals in the first 45 minutes of play. Dodge City would outshoot Garden City 4-3 in the first half, but would have both shots on goal saved by the GCCC goalie. After holding the Bronbusters the first 10-plus minutes of the second half, Garden City would break through for a goal in the 60th minute to make the score 2-0, as DC3 would not be able to convert any of their chances to end up losing by that same score. GCCC would barrage Dodge City goalie with 11 shots in the half, compared to only three for the Conquistadors.
Abel Chevelon would lead DC3 with four total shots on the day.
Only three more regular-season games remain for Dodge City, who will play host to Barton Community College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October, 19th. Dodge City can clinch a Region VI tournament berth with a win in one of the next three games, or with two losses by Northwest Kansas Tech, who DC3 will play next Friday.
