Box Score DODGE CITY, Kan. - After giving up a goal just two minutes into the game, the Dodge City Community College men's soccer team responded well by scoring two goals in the final 10 minutes before halftime and adding a third in the 75th minute to take a 3-1 victory over Northwest Kansas Tech at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, October 1st.
DC3 is now 1-7-2 on the season, after a multitude of close calls earlier on in the year.
Once the Mavericks got on the board with a goal to take an early 1-0 lead, the Conquistadors would respond when
Irvin Rodriguez would get lose and fire one into the back of the net to make the game tied at one. As time was winding down in the first half,
Zo Khaliq would send a ball into
Isaac Palma who would give Dodge City their first lead of the night.
Clinging onto a one goal lead with 15 minutes left in the game,
Jamie Scott would send one past the goalie to make the game 3-1, which would eventually become a final. Five total yellow cards were handed out in a very physical game, as the two teams were meeting for the first time this season after the originally scheduled first meeting was postponed due to weather.
Freshman
Eric Edge played all 90 minutes in net, making four saves to earn his first collegiate victory.
DC3 will be back in action on Friday night at 7 p.m. when they host Northeast Junior College out of Colorado.
