GAME NOTES: No. 16 Dodge City CC vs. Iowa Western

HISTORY
- In its lone meeting against Iowa Western since the Reivers' football program began in 2009, DC3 lost to the Reivers 57-14 last season on the road. Iowa Western was ranked as high as No. 1 last season and finished the season No. 3 after going 11-1.

 

PREVIOUS GAME
- DC3 outscored Independence Community College 24-0 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 38-21 victory in the Conqs' home opener on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
Iowa Western, a program that was ranked No. 3 to start the season, picked up its first win of 2015 on Saturday with a 13-6 win over Highland at home on Saturday.

DC3 is 3-0 for the first time since 1983. That season the Conquistadors made it to their first bowl game.
The Conquistador defense continues to change games with its ability to force turnovers as it is tied for seventh in the NJCAA in interceptions (6) and tied for ninth in fumble recoveries (4).
The Conqs' 19 sacks is tied for first in the NJCAA with Blinn.
DC3's 38 points against Independence last week actually lowered its scoring average to 43 points per game – 16th in the nation.
DC3 running back and Florida commit Mark Thompson was the KJCCC player of the week after rushing for 166 yards and four touchdowns (tied a school record) against Independence. Thompson is fourth in the NJCAA in rushing yards per game (139.3), fifth in rushing yards (418) and tied for sixth in rushing touchdowns (6).
The back-to-back losses for Iowa Western to start the 2015 season is the first time the program has lost consecutive games since the program's inaugural season in 2009 when the Reivers lost their first three games on their way to a 5-4 campaign.
Since going 5-4 in its first season, Iowa Western is 53-8 – which includes the 2012 national championship in just its fourth year.
