Box Score GREAT BEND, Kansas:  Dodge City men's soccer tied Barton 1-1 last night in double-overtime to open up Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play.  The men now stand 2-1-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the KJCCC.  

Barton scored first in the 10^th minute of play on a goal to the top inside post that narrowly missed the outstretched hands of Conq goalie Alex Rodela.

Rodela, KJCCC goalkeeper of the week last week, was not intimidated however, as he made nine saves throughout the rest of the game to keep the opposition at one goal.

In the beginning of the second half, DC3 had had enough of the goose egg on their side of the scoreboard.  Sophomore Ben Carter crossed into to freshman Fernando Hernandez who ripped the eventually tying goal through to the back of the Barton net.

Despite both sides managing a few shots in overtime – seven to Barton and three to Dodge City – none were on goal to challenge either goalie, eventually closing out the match in the 1-1 tie.

The Conqs will stay on the road this weekend, taking on Hesston College JV at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 5.
