Box Score INDEPENDENCE, Kansas: Dodge City football advanced their Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference record to 2-0 this past weekend with a 42-32 win over Independence on the road. The Conqs are now 2-1 overall and own a two-game winning streak heading into next weekend.
The Conqs started things off with a 21-14 lead in the first quarter alone. Independence attempted to close the gap in the second quarter with a 6-0 advantage after missing the extra point attempt, but the Conqs fired back with a 7-0 third quarter after half to put their hopes down. DC3 won the fourth quarter as well with a 14-12 decision to close out the game with a 42-32 KJCCC victory under their belt.
Quarterback
Deondre Ford excelled on the gridiron yet again after posting 24 completions in 41 total attempts for 386 big yards. The sophomore now averages 365 passing yards per game which ranks second overall on the national scale.
Mark Thompson led the rushing effort with nine carries for 96 yards while
Keymonne Gabriel helped the Conqs with 15 carries for 46 total yards on the day. Gabriel was also good for 60 yards on kickoff returns with a 48-yard long return after two attempts.
Christian Booker,
Jeff George,
William French and
James Bynes all produced big numbers on the receiving side with Booker leading the pack with 149 yards after seven catches, including a 51-yard long catch. George posted three catches for 92 yards, French was good for 86 yards after seven catches and Bynes posted 37 yards after six catches for Dodge City.
Dylan Burkhard produced six point after attempts with all of them good throughout the game.
On the defensive,
Andre Adams and
LaDarrian Bowman led the Conqs with nine tackles apiece. Adams posted nine solo tackles while Bowman garnered eight solos and one assist tackle.
Trey Williamson was also good for three solo tackles including one sack for five yards.
After the weekend, the Conqs top the national statistic charts in numerous categories. The team ranks second in the nation with 4th-down conversions (8-11), third in passing 1st downs (41), fourth in total offense (1634), yards per game (544.7), passing yards (1095) and passing yards per game (265) to name just a few.

Ford ranks second in the nation after averaging 356 passing yards per game and third with 11 touchdowns while Booker ranks second with 129.7 receiving yards per game so far this season.
