Box Score DODGE CITY, Kansas: The rain held off for the first half of DC3s men's soccer KJCCC matchup with Coffeyville tonight, but added to the tension in the rest of the match. Both offensives works for one goal, but the final would result in a tie after extra time.
Big saves by goalkeeper
Alex Rodela kept the Red Ravens from the win. The Dodge City, Kansas native picked up four saves on the day, one in each period.
Coffeyville owned six shots in the first half compared to Dodge City's five, but the score remained 0-0 heading into the second. Despite the Conquistador's 11 goals in the second half against the Red Ravens four, both teams would score only once before regulation time was up.
CCC scored first in the 57
th minute of play on a pass from the backfield to Coffeyville's Cullen Lovelock who broke through defense for a 1v1 opportunity with Rodela. He strategically placed the ball left of the goal to help the Red Ravens go up 1-0.
DC3 was not ready to let that goal unanswered however as they worked for an opportunity in the 66
th minute.
Adrian Torres passed towards the box from the left and sophomore
Ben Carter headed a gem of a goal through the posts to even the score.
The two OTs resulted in more defense than offense from the Conqs as the Red Ravens posted six shots throughout against no opportunities from the Conqs. Rodela put in a save in each period to keep things tied up.
Carter owned the goal after three shots, two of which were on goal while
Rene Rodriguez added two shots on goal in two total shots and
Shemuel Wilson posted one on goal.
Mauro Hipolito added three shots for the Conqs while
Evan Williams,
Ross Rodgers and
Fernando Hernandez each had two and
Cristian Verduzco,
Shemuel Wilson,
Ben Aymen Hadj Slama and
Doncovish Dorvilma each had one.
DC3 moves to 9-3-2 overall and 3-1-2 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference so far this season.
They will head to Neosho County to play on Friday, October 17 at 7 p.m.
