Marquise Blair Named NJCAA First-Team All-American

Dodge City, Kan. - Dodge City Community College sophomore linebacker Marquise Blair has been named to the First-Team of the NJCAA All-American Defensive team, announced by the National Junior College Athletic Association on Thursday afternoon.

The Wooster, Ohio native garned All-American Status after being named to the NJCAA All-Region VI team earlier this fall for his play on the field for the Conqs in 2016. Blair led the team in tackles with 100 total tackles while starting all 11 games for the Conqs. In addition to leading the team in sacks with three, Blair had four forced fumbles, recovered three fumbles, and had a team high four interceptions. The Wooster, Ohio native finishes second in a career in interceptions (6), fourth in total tackles (164), and fourth in career sacks (11).

It is the second-straight year that the Conquistadors had a player named to the NJCAA All-American team after kicker Dillon Burkhard, offensive lineman Chris Gaynor, and running back Mark Thompson were all named All-Americans a year ago. Blair is the first defensive player to be named an All-American for the Conqs since 2013.
Dodge City finished the 2016 campaign with a 7-4 record and in a three-way tie for second place in the KJCCC.
